Optical-fiber ring cavity with saturable rare-earth-doped fiber

چکیده

Resonance properties of the all-fiber ring cavity filled with nonlinear material - saturable rare-earth-doped fiber are analyzed and experimentally investigated. Unlike earlier investigated erbium-doped at 1550nm where optical absorption photo-induced change (saturation) is observed only, ytterbium-doped 1064nm demonstrates saturation refractive index mainly. For this configuration we report experimental observation bistability hysteresis in transmitted output light 10mW-scale incident power. The results qualitative agreement theoretical analysis that takes into account both parameters: doped fiber. reported seem promising for applications high-sensitivity interferometric configurations operation wavelength.

Radiation Effects Expected for Fiber Laser/Amplifier Rare Earth Doped Optical Fiber

1.0 Introduction Fiber lasers are still considered an emerging technology because at the system level there exists no harsh environmental qualification data that is available to the public. Some vendors such as IPG claim to have thermal and vibration data on their units but NASA still needs to conduct validation analysis and testing to insure the technology will function as expected under harsh...

Coupled solitons in rare-earth doped two-mode fiber.

We present first ever analytical solutions for shape-preserving pulses in a Kerr nonlinear two-mode fiber doped with 3-level ? atoms. The two modes are near-resonant with the two transitions of the atomic system. We show the existence of quasi-stable coupled bright-dark pairs if the group velocity dispersion has opposite signs at the two mode frequencies. We demonstrate the remarkable possibili...
